We locate and document every luminaire, exit sign and standby battery pack to ensure no unit is missed.

2. Simulated Power Failure

Using test keys, we safely isolate the local lighting circuit to trigger the emergency backup systems into action.

3. Discharge Testing

We conduct statutory 1-hour or full 3-hour discharge tests to guarantee the batteries can sustain illumination.

We verify that the light output during emergency mode meets the minimum required lux levels for safe egress.

5. Digital Logbook Update

Your results are instantly logged into a secure digital portal, generating your legally required compliance certificate.

6. Rapid Repairs

If a battery or bulb fails during testing, we provide a rapid, competitive quote to replace the unit immediately.

Duty of Care

Why Emergency Lighting
is Essential.

Under the Fire Safety Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010, the "responsible person" must ensure that premises have adequate emergency lighting that is routinely maintained.

Safe Egress: Guarantees that employees and the public can safely locate and use escape routes during an evacuation.

Legal Compliance: Avoids severe penalties, closure of premises or invalidation of commercial insurance policies.

Panic Reduction: Provides immediate anti-panic illumination in large open areas to prevent crush injuries.

Testing FAQs

BS5266 dictates a strict schedule: Daily visual checks of central power supply indicators, a Monthly short functional test (usually performed by the facility manager), and a full Annual 3-hour discharge test performed by a competent, qualified electrical contractor.
Maintained luminaires are on continuously as part of the normal lighting system, but stay lit using battery power if the mains fail (common in cinemas or theatres). Non-Maintained luminaires only illuminate when the main power supply fails (typical in office block corridors).
If an emergency light fades or fails before the 3-hour mark, it means the internal battery pack has degraded and the unit is non-compliant. We will log the defect, issue an advisory notice, and can rapidly replace the internal battery or the entire fixture to restore compliance.
