Fixed Wire Testing
Northern Ireland.

Secure your building infrastructure. We provide comprehensive Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR) across Northern Ireland to ensure your property is safe, fully compliant and meets strict BS7671 standards.

Assessing Electrical Integrity

BS7671 Compliance
& Building Safety.

Formally known as an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), this vital process involves the rigorous dead and live testing and inspection of the fixed electrical circuits and distribution boards that route electricity securely around your building.

Unlike PAT testing which focuses on plugged-in appliances, an EICR scrutinises the core infrastructure of your property. Our dedicated engineers actively uncover potential fire hazards, shock risks and defective work before they cause critical system failure.

How We Ensure Compliance

A highly technical, strategic testing framework designed to accurately assess the condition of your electrical installations with minimal disruption.

1. Visual Inspection

Before isolating power, we inspect distribution boards, switchgear and wiring for obvious signs of overheating, wear or damage.

2. Dead Testing

With the circuits isolated, we perform vital continuity, insulation resistance and polarity tests to ensure wires are intact and safe.

3. Live Testing

We carefully re-energise the system to test Earth Fault Loop Impedance and verify that RCDs trip correctly in an emergency.

4. Defect Coding

Any faults found are accurately classified using BS7671 codes (C1, C2, C3 or FI) to highlight the severity of the legal risk.

5. Certification

We generate your comprehensive EICR document via our digital portal, giving you an immediate, legally binding report.

6. Remedial Action

If your installation receives an "Unsatisfactory" grade, we provide a rapid, competitive quote to resolve the C1/C2 defects.

Duty of Care

Why Fixed Wire Testing
is Essential.

Electrical installations inevitably deteriorate over time due to load, wear and age. A regular EICR is the only robust way to prove you have maintained your building's safety in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Order.

Private Landlords: Under recent NI legislation, you are legally mandated to hold a valid EICR every 5 years for private tenancies.

Commercial Businesses: Required to validate property insurance and prevent devastating workplace fire hazards.

Public Sector & Schools: Due to heavy footfall, public buildings require rigorous and frequent fixed wire assessments.

EICR FAQs

Yes. For businesses, while "EICR" isn't in the act, the Electricity at Work Regulations (NI) 1991 legally requires employers to maintain electrical systems safely. An EICR is the accepted proof of this. For private landlords, recent legislation explicitly mandates a valid EICR every 5 years or at the start of a new tenancy.
Faults found are coded based on severity to determine if the report is Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory:

  • C1 (Danger Present): Immediate risk of injury. Requires urgent action.
  • C2 (Potentially Dangerous): Urgent remedial action required to prevent a future hazard.
  • C3 (Improvement Recommended): Does not meet current BS7671 standards, but is not deemed dangerous.
  • FI (Further Investigation): An anomaly requires deeper inspection.

A single C1, C2, or FI code results in an "Unsatisfactory" report.
Standard commercial offices and retail spaces require an EICR every 5 years. Industrial premises and highly-trafficked environments often require testing every 3 years, while specific locations like swimming pools require annual testing.
